Now that summer is coming to an end, you might be wondering how you can spruce up your outdoor decor to welcome fall. Whether it’s your porch, patio, deck, or even somewhere indoors, we have ideas for you.

Fall mums are the perfect fall plant to bring a little colour to the outside of your home. They have dark green foliage with vibrant blooms that come in a range of colours like burgundy, burnt orange and even white. Adding these around your outdoor space paired with gourds or pumpkins brings fall to your home.

Speaking of pumpkins, they are so versatile and transition perfectly from early fall to Halloween and even beyond. Some people can be hesitant to decorate with gourds and pumpkins in their home because they can rot. We have the perfect solution for preserving your gourds and pumpkins to help them last all season long! All you need to do is make a mixture of 4L of water, 1 tsp of bleach, and a small squirt of ammonia free dish soap. Soak your gourds and pumpkins in the mixture and use an old toothbrush, that you’ll never put in your mouth again, to scrub off any debris or mold that might be hanging on. Rinse well and enjoy all season long! You can do this in the kitchen sink or bathtub. No more worrying about rotting decor!

Celosia brings an element of height to your fall display as their blooms stand tall and make

a bold statement. Pairing celosia with fall mums brings a brilliant contrast of colour as the celosia are bold and bright while the mums have gorgeous, calm colours.

Ornamental kale and cabbage is an underrated fall crop that brings colour to any home. They provide you with a vibrant purple or a pop of white that helps tie everything together. They are known to keep their colour and look beautiful up until they are buried in snow!

Adding these plants and gourds may seem simple but they do so much for your fall decor. Celebrate fall and embrace the change of the seasons, it always brings a new chapter.
